Winery located on the beautiful Montalcino hills , in Tuscany.
It produces Brunello, Rosso di Montalcino, liqueurs and sweet wines.
Tenuta Il Poggione history begins at the end of the 1800s, when the Florentine Lavinio Franceschi bought land in the area of Montalcino and founded a farm.
The company already marketed Brunello di Montalcino since the early 1900s and was one of the founding members of the Brunello di Montalcino Consortium.
Today the estate occupies about 600 hectares, and practices a diversified agriculture, alternating crops and vineyards.
The harvest is completely manual; vinification takes place according to the traditional method, but using modern technologies. The wine ferments in fact at controlled temperature with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel tanks. The
"submerged cap" technique, which allows to increase the concentration of coloring substances present in the grape skins. In this way very intense colors and fragrances are obtained.
The red wines are then aged in the barrel 5 meters below the ground, in large French oak barrels.
We have selected from this winery a red wine Rosso di Montalcino DOC, an exceptional dessert sweet wine, the Moscadello di Montalcino DOC and the liquor Vin Santo Sant'Antimo DOC Riserva.
