The "Romana" or "Tonda Gentile Romana" hazelnut has a spheroidal shape and a pleasant aroma. It is mainly cultivated in the Tuscia area of northern Lazio, once Etruscan domination.
The soils of volcanic origin on the slopes of the Cimini Mountains favor the cultivation of the Romana hazelnut. This is subjected to a natural drying process, carried out by placing the hazelnuts on paved areas, in a thin layer, in the sun and turning them periodically.
Tonda gentile gentile Roman is compact and crunchy, with a very fine and persistent flavor and aroma.
